Tomorrow night sees the world premiere of the highly anticipated (by me at least) third movie in the Narnia series. La travesía del viajero del Alba, directed by Michael Apted, will screen at the London Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square, just blocks from the major studios who contributed to the numerous visual effects sequences in the film. Among the celebrities attending, Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will grace the red carpet.
Big congratulations to the team at MPC whom I worked alongside to bring the magic of this film to the screen. A really talented bunch of artists (and ping-pong players.. well, not THAT talented at ping-pong)! Although I have not seen the film in its entirety, from what I have seen it looks to be a great movie filled with some really amazing CG and visual effects. It was a fun film to have worked on and I can only hope it is well recieved when it hits public cinemas on December 10.
The film will be widely released in 2D with limited release in the UK and US in Digital 3D (converted from 2D to 3D). While the majority of the film was converted to 3D by Prime Focus, there are a number of shots (mainly full CG shots) which are true steroscopic so keep an eye out for them; I’m interested to see if anyone notices the difference between the converted shots and the true 3D!
For those who aren’t lucky enough to be invited to the premiere (let’s face it, that’s most of us post-production people, I’m sure…), you can pretend you’re there via this live webcam of Leicester Square.
